Life’s Golden Lessons

Gather round me, sisters…brothers come too,
For I have lessons ‘bout this life to pass on to you,
Some have called them golden, guaranteed to last,
And make sure you never get stuck in the past.

When life is overwhelming and every day is hard,
Remember that you only need to be where you are,
And if your heart is willing to go out on a limb,
That’s the very moment that the fun can begin,

Now trouble’s bound to find you and take you by surprise,
And it won’t simply disappear by closing your eyes,
You gotta face it one way or another, my friend,
Or it will consume you in the end.

And oh, there will be nights so heavy,
Sure, you gonna feel unsteady,
Maybe that’s when you’ll be ready for,
Your heart to get back on the horse again.
So listen to my story, follow my advice,
No need for guts and glory when the truth will suffice,
You’re better off forgiving than reliving the past,
Now that’s a golden lesson that will surely last.

If you’re an honest lover, whose heart has been betrayed,
Be careful not to blame yourself for choices you made,
Though anger may be brewin’ doin’ nothin’ to mend,
Don’t forget the truth always comes out in the end.

Now if you’re feelin’ spiteful and hungry for revenge,
Remember your integrity and let go instead,
Some are born deceivers who believe they are true,
So what’s an honest lover s’posed to do?

When you meet an outright liar,
And they dance upon that tight rope wire,
Then they set the truth on fire again,
You may wish that they were never born.

So, finalize your fury, ratify your rage,
Wane yourself of worry just by turning the page,
See if you wanna pivot, simply give it a pass,
Now that’s a golden lesson that will surely last.

Why would someone need to hurt you,
By misleading you and without virtue?
Try to see that ugliness inside,
Has got the least amount to do with you.

So, finalize your fury, ratify your rage,
Wane yourself of worry just by turning the page,
Do unto another as you’d want done to you,
Now that’s a golden lesson that will truly last.
